Warner Bros. has dated The Batman: Part II for February 18, 2028, and Robert Pattinson is already hinting that Matt Reeves’ follow-up to 2022’s The Batman goes bigger and in a different direction. According to Pattinson, the script from Reeves and Mattson Tomlin is “incredibly dense,” which makes it sound like the sequel is aiming for something more layered after a long writing stretch and delays caused by the 2023 Hollywood strikes.
Recent set photos from London, Liverpool, and Glasgow point to filming finally being underway. Images of Bruce Wayne near a protest also hint that Gotham’s class tensions may play a larger role this time around. As for all the Court of Owls speculation, tied to the reported working title Semper Vigilans and a “Court of Fowls” sign, that’s still rumor for now.
If the first movie worked for you because of the detective noir, the urban rot, and the psychological pressure hanging over everything, there’s plenty here to keep an eye on. This sequel is still staying outside James Gunn and Peter Safran’s main DC Universe under the Elseworlds label, and it’s expected to pick up threads from The Penguin while giving Bruce Wayne more of the focus as Reeves continues building out his planned trilogy.
