Right now, Amazon Prime Video hasn’t recast Homelander in the live-action version of The Boys. The change people keep talking about only applies to the video games.
So if you saw the rumor, here’s what actually happened: Antony Starr was never replaced on Prime Video, and his performance stayed one of the biggest reasons The Boys turned into such a phenomenon over the course of its run.
In the games, though, Homelander is now voiced by Jake Green, including The Boys: Trigger Warning and Mortal Kombat 1. Starr had already confirmed that he wouldn’t be voicing the character in Mortal Kombat 1.
If you pay close attention to franchise casting, this is the kind of thing you clock, not some massive shake-up. Game and spin-off recasts are pretty standard, and most fans on Reddit and elsewhere said Green nailed Homelander’s smug cadence, even if a few lines landed a little off.
The timing makes sense, too. Season five ended in 2026, so the franchise is now in its post-The Boys phase, while Gen V keeps going, Vought Rising is set for 2027, and The Boys: Mexico is still in the pipeline. The franchise had also already gone through a real recast before, when Ryan Butcher shifted from Parker Corno to Cameron Crovetti.
