Bloober Team, the developer of Silent Hill 2 Remake, is clear about it: they are tired of making “crappy” games. Since Silent Hill 2 Remake was announced to the world, the community has been scrutinizing every progress made on the game. Their previous games, like The Medium or Layers of Fear, did not manage to stand out, and fans feared the worst. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Finally, Silent Hill 2 Remake has managed to be a critical and commercial success, much to the delight of fans. Amidst the euphoria, the studio has surprised with the announcement of a new game, Cronos: The New Dawn. Additionally, they insist that they have “evolved.”
Jacek Zieba, director and producer of Cronos, stated to Gamespot that “the two years prior to the release of Silent Hill 2 were difficult […] Now there is a very good atmosphere within (the studio). We want to show what we can do on our own, how we can evolve our ideas.”
In the interview, Zieba states that Bloober Team wants to establish itself as a “horror company,” as they believe they have found their niche there. “Now we just have to…evolve with it. And how that happens is more complex, but it also happens organically, like with Layers of Fear. People in the studio were saying ‘Okay, we’ve made crappy games before, but we can evolve,'” said Zieba.
Silent Hill 2 Remake has already sold one million copies between physical and digital games since its release on October 8th.
