The Game Awards 2026 now has a date: December 10, 2026. Geoff Keighley has confirmed that his annual video game awards show will return to the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
For anyone watching at home, that date means more than the trophies. The Game Awards has turned into one of gaming’s biggest year-end showcases for first looks, surprise reveals, launch dates, and big cinematic trailers, even as the argument keeps going over whether the awards themselves get enough breathing room next to all the marketing.
The growth numbers make that pretty clear. The Game Awards 2025 pulled 171 million global livestreams, up from 154 million in 2024, 118 million in 2023, 103 million in 2022, and just 1.9 million back in 2014. The show was spread across YouTube, Twitch, regional platforms in China and India, plus an Amazon Prime Video partnership. On the business side, 60-second trailer spots were estimated at about $450,000, and larger packages reportedly went past $1 million.
If you pay as much attention to game announcements as you do to the winners, The Game Awards 2026 is a date worth circling. That feels even truer after the criticism over 30-second speeches and the backlash in 2023, which pushed Geoff Keighley to promise improvements, while indie games and non-English coverage are still fighting for room beside the blockbuster reveals.
