In 2019, a Spanish science-fiction film conquered the Sitges Film Festival and became one of the most daring proposals in recent years. Shortly after, in the midst of the pandemic, this film arrived on Netflix and became the biggest success for a Spanish film on the streaming platform. We’re talking about The Platform, directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia.
After the success of the first part of The Platform, the director embarked on its sequel. But what do we know about The Platform 2? Below, we share with you with the main details of one of the most anticipated sci-fi sequels of our era.

What will The Platform 2 be about?
Although its own title indicates that we’ll delve back into that unsettling hole introduced in the first movie, little else is known at the moment. However, Netflix has already confirmed a concise premise for this sequel: “A mysterious figure has managed to establish a new law in The Hole, but can justice be imposed in hell? Who will ensure that it is enforced?”

Who will appear in The Platform 2?
It seems we won’t see the main characters from The Platform in this movie, for something that seems obvious if you’ve already seen it. However, we already have the main actors for this new film. It will star Milena Smit (Parallel Mothers, Cross the Line) and Hovik Keuchkerian (Money Heist, Red Queen). Gaztelu-Urrutia will repeat as the director. Additionally, some images have been released that shed light on what the matter will be about.

When and where will The Platform 2 be released?
After acquiring the first part, The Hole 2 will be a completely original film by Netflix, so it’ll be released on the streaming platform in the coming months. But we still don’t know when it’ll be released. There is confirmation that it will be in 2024, so we’re hoping maybe towards the end of the year. Will it be premiered again at the Sitges Festival? Everything seems to point in that direction.
