Fastned has inaugurated its first DC fast charging station in Italy, consolidating its presence in the country with this new facility located at the Truck Park Brescia Est, along the A4, one of the main traffic arteries connecting Milan and Venice.
This is the eighth country in which the Dutch company has begun operations, reflecting its commitment to the growth of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in Europe.
The new station features four Alpitronic HYC400 Hyperchargers, offering an impressive power of up to 400 kW. This charging level exceeds the capacity of Tesla’s newer models and places Fastned in a competitive position in the European market, especially in northern Italy, where most registered electric vehicles are concentrated.
A fast charge to compete with Tesla
The location of the station is not a coincidence: it is strategically located between Bergamo and Verona, and approximately halfway between important tourist destinations such as Lake Lugano and Lake Garda. This allows it to efficiently serve both local drivers and those traveling along this busy route.
Originally, the inauguration of the station was scheduled for 2024, but it was moved up, and it was officially put into service this week by the highway operator A4 Holding Group. This marks a positive milestone in Fastned’s rapid expansion in the Italian market.
An interesting point that arises in the discussion about charging technology is the comparison between Fastned and other providers, such as Tesla. Despite its fame, Tesla seems to be a step behind when it comes to the latest innovations in charging technology, especially compared to the advancements being made in China.
This raises questions about the future direction of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in a constantly evolving market.
