The annual CinemaCon convention is becoming one of the most interesting showcases of commercial cinema. It was at this event where the first trailer for Joker: Foliè a Deux was presented, and it is also where the new Wolverine suit for the third installment of Deadpool has been leaked —which enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe—.
Now, it has been Robert Eggers who has taken the lead at the event. The director of The Northman, The Lighthouse, and The Witch has presented the first images of his upcoming film: Nosferatu. That’s right, the filmmaker is preparing his own remake of one of the most terrifying films from the early days of cinema, and as you can see in the images, it looks spectacular.
Will it be Robert Eggers’ best film to date?
Nosferatu is scheduled for December 25, 2024, coinciding with Christmas. The film takes us back to 1838, when the assistant of young Hutter has to travel to Transylvania to close a sale with a client, a count who lives in a castle in the Carpathians. After a complicated and sinister journey, he arrives at the place, where the chilling experiences will continue. Hutter discovers the mark of fangs on his neck and will soon understand that the count is actually the reincarnation of the vampire Nosferatu.
The remake of the film is starring Bill Skarsgård as the vampire Count Orlok, Willem Dafoe as a wild vampire hunter named Albin Eberhart von Franz, and Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hutter, the object of Orlok’s desires. The cast is completed by actors Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicholas Hoult, Ralph Ineson, and Simon McBurney. Interestingly, Hoult already appeared last year in a film where he played the assistant to a vampire, Renfield. We will see what surprises they have prepared for us this time.
