The Talented Mr. Ripley is a well-known 1999 film in which Matt Damon managed to establish himself as the Hollywood star he has proven to be. However, the novel written by Patricia Highsmith in 1955 originally had a much darker and gloomier noir tone, and this is what Netflix wants to demonstrate with its upcoming miniseries: Ripley.
More than a remake, Ripley is a new adaptation of Highsmith’s novel, and it has a very different tone from the original film. In black and white and with a much darker twist, the series promises to be one of the most important of the season. In addition, its protagonist is not far behind: it is Andrew Scott, famous for being Moriarty in Sherlock, after which he has not stopped working in dozens of movies and series.
Rediscover the story of Mr. Ripley
Ripley tells the story of Tom Ripley, a con artist who, in the 60s, is hired by a millionaire to contact his hedonistic son in Italy, starting a long career of deceit, fraud, and murder. We will be able to watch its 8 episodes on Netflix on April 4th.
