Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon are back together again, this time in The Walking Dead: Aftermath, which launched today as a free-to-play mobile game on Google Play.
Its Google Play listing says the game was developed by Swift Games and published by Ares Interactive with AMC. It drops you near Atlanta at the start of the outbreak. You begin as Rick Grimes, then recruit Daryl Dixon, Michonne, Maggie, Glenn, Carol, and Negan. From there, it mixes action-roguelite combat with settlement building and survival systems across Hershel’s Farm, Woodbury, Terminus, and Alexandria. An October 23 update also adds a PvP mode called Rivals.
Google Play currently lists The Walking Dead: Aftermath at 4.6 out of 5, with more than 1 million downloads. The early-series nostalgia is clearly the main draw, but don’t mistake this for a live-action reunion. Rick Grimes’ story already reached its endpoint in AMC’s The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live with Michonne and their children, and AMC’s The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is still set to end with its fourth and final season in February 2027.

Gimple, Greg Nicotero, Norman Reedus, and Andrew Lincoln have only added fuel to speculation about a crossover event that could play like a twelfth season.
