If you only know one thing about Elden Ring, it’s that it’s a difficult game. Particularly, that its bosses can be tough nuts to crack and it can take hours to make them bite the dust. If you think that, you’re not wrong. The bosses of Elden Ring are terrible creatures that demand the best of our skill and repertoire, even if they are never as fierce as they are painted. In the end, they all fall. Even the ones that seem impossible. And that’s what counts in the end.
But the existence of bosses that seem invincible also leads to the big question that has plagued humanity for decades. Who would win in a fight between Hulk and Son Goku? Or in this case, who would win in a fight between Melania and Messmer? If you have ever asked yourself this question, don’t worry. Because the Elden Ring community has asked it too. And a modder has decided to solve it.
FlippantTunic22 has created a mod, available on NexusMod, that allows us to summon any boss in the game to fight alongside us as our ally. Or as our own personal Pokémon. Because the condition to be able to summon them is that we must first defeat them. Something easier said than done, as if we want to be able to summon some of the most fearsome enemies in the game, we must first kill them. Although with the help of other bosses, it surely won’t be so complex, right?
It goes without saying that this mod is not balanced at absolutely any level. Using it breaks any notion of balance or game progression. Even relatively simple bosses like the Dancing Lion are capable of killing some other bosses with a single blow, demonstrating that using this mod is not a good idea if you intend to experience the game for what it is. But if you want to have a laugh, test the limits of the game, and see how you can break it, this is exactly the mod you’ve been waiting for.
That doesn’t mean that this doesn’t make us dream of mods that take this a step further. Because what we would really like to see is the possibility of summoning bosses when we are facing other people online. By this we mean, indeed, that we want a mod that turns Elden Ring into a Pokémon of its own bosses. But until that happens, if it ever does, this is a good approximation of what that feverish dream could be.
