With the arrival of watchOS 11, the Siri watch face on the Apple Watch has disappeared. Introduced in 2017 with high expectations, the Siri watch face offered a personalized approach that displayed relevant information based on our time and location. However, with watchOS 10 and especially now with watchOS 11 and iOS 18, the usefulness of the watch face has been diminished so much that Apple has decided to make it disappear.
A sphere that now permeates the entire operating system
The implementation of the Smart Stack feature in watchOS 10 marked the beginning of the end for the Siri watch face. This widget system brought us a more modern and efficient interface for displaying information. With Smart Stack, the widgets – customizable according to our needs – appear intelligently based on the time, location, and other conditions, offering a much more intuitive and clutter-free experience.
Now, with the arrival of Live Activities in the Smart Stack in watchOS 11, the situation is even clearer. Live activities and content playback are automatically managed through the Smart Stack, eliminating the need for additional gestures like double tapping, which was never a very good fit with the Siri watch face.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Smart Stack in watchOS 11 has integrated a series of widgets, including Shazam for music detection, workouts, workout tracking, photos, and weather alerts. These were never available on the Siri watch face.
The Siri sphere does not appear on the Apple Watch anymore, but there’s more than one interpretation. The brilliant idea of having the information we need at any given moment, born with the Siri sphere, is now integrated into the entire operating system. So, no matter which sphere we choose, we’ll be glad to know that, at any moment, a simple glance at our watch is enough to show us everything we need.
