Threads is about to copy one of Twitter’s most popular features

Meta continues to work on preventing user drop-off in Threads, and to achieve this, it will keep adding features that enhance user interaction within this platform born from Instagram. And their new target has been revealed: quoted content in its web version.

Quoted content, which arrived on Twitter a few years ago, is a way to display a comment or reaction directly related to other content you’ve seen within the app. Threads aim to increase activity and traffic on their service, and this option for web users would be a very interesting one to implement for user engagement.

Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, revealed this information in response to a user’s post requesting the implementation of quoting in the web version. Mosseri didn’t hesitate to confirm that it is “on the way” and is currently being tested for future implementation.

This addition to the web version of Threads would allow users to enjoy a browsing experience closer to what the official app offers. However, Threads will also need to continue advancing in more features to remain a valuable alternative for regular Twitter (or X, if we consider Elon Musk’s proposed name) users.

Threads currently faces two major challenges. The first, as mentioned earlier, is to stop the user exodus after its strong start because the app is struggling to retain users who initially started using the platform. Its privacy regulations are illegal in European territory, which has been a significant obstacle in terms of user traffic. If Meta adapts these regulations to European laws, which are designed to protect consumer information, Threads can operate in Spain as well and test its potential to establish itself in the old continent.
