Apple Vision Pro is the most advanced eyewear in the history of virtual reality and augmented reality. For this reason, we have taken the opportunity to discuss which features should be improved for the future, as they are not perfect. Just almost.
A recent report from The Information reveals the three major features that are missing in Apple Vision Pro, even delving into the details of why Apple apparently deemed it appropriate to remove them.

Fitness applications
We know from the official trailer that Vision Pro will come with some kind of meditation app, but nothing else related to fitness. However, it turns out that there were plans to introduce much more health-focused content.
At one point, Apple was working on a complete tai chi app with on-device guidance to assist people with the exercises, and a yoga software that would have used the “downward-facing camera lens to measure breathing.”
Additionally, Apple developers were exploring ways to install “more suitable face pads” for intense workouts. Some employees even had discussions with brands like Nike for potential collaboration.
The reasons why the fitness plans fell through, according to the report, were 1) the external battery pack was cumbersome, and 2) the front glass screen was “too fragile to survive a collision with furniture.”
Games with precise controls
Video games are one of the main attractions for those looking to purchase virtual reality glasses. After all, there are plenty of great virtual reality titles available for other platforms.
Therefore, you can imagine the disappointment that many had when it was revealed that Vision Pro would not provide a unique gaming experience. You will have to use a controller to play.
As for the reason why the company is not focusing on gaming in their glasses, an Apple engineer stated in a Slack channel that device hand tracking is “great for gestures [and] providing visual feedback,” but it is not very precise.
Mac Applications
During the presentation, the world saw that Vision Pro was capable of running its own optimized versions of software for Mac. The company’s engineers attempted to see if it was possible to seamlessly “grab” an application from a Mac and drag it onto the headset. Unfortunately, they were not successful.
Despite the Vision Pro featuring Apple’s M2 chip, which can be found in some high-end MacBooks, the operating system of the headset, visionOS, is based on iOS. This means that the headset cannot directly run Mac applications without limitations.
