The Worldwide Developers Conference is one of the most anticipated events of the year. As the date of WWDC 2023 approaches, rumors and speculation about the new systems and software updates that will be unveiled at the conference begin to circulate. We know little, but what little we do know – in this case about watchOS 10 – sounds really good.
There are many leaks about new developments in operating systems, but few are those that come from a source as recognized as Mark Gurman himself. The Bloomberg reporter gives us few details, but enough to know that watchOS 10 will be an important update for the Apple Watch.
A redesign of the interface that could be very interesting
According to Gurman, the watchOS 10 operating system should be a “fairly extensive” update for the Apple Watch this year, with “significant changes” to the user interface. News that, in reality, we did not expect, since in terms of hardware we estimate that this year will be rather quiet for the Apple Watch.
This minor update in hardware, is something that Gurman himself confirms again in his latest newsletter, and just a situation that seems to leave more room for Apple teams to focus on software. News that are welcome, as we already saw part of the changes with watchOS 9 and now we can see the continuation.
Recall that a few months ago, Apple withdrew support for Force Touch on the Apple Watch. Until then, a hard press allowed to open menus and perform actions. With watchOS 9, these secondary actions had to appear in the interface more clearly and now, with watchOS 10, new things can be added to the interface while redesigning what we can do in apps and in the system.
Apple is expected to announce watchOS 10 at the Worldwide Developers Conference, scheduled for June 5-9. Here we will also see, as every year, iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14 and tvOS 17. And, according to rumors, we could also see the new extended reality helmet accompanied by xrOS, its operating system.
The news that watchOS 10 will have a significant update in its interface is really interesting. Clearly, we always like to see innovation in all systems, but while on the iPhone the changes come in the form of new features, on the Apple Watch the situation is different. For years now the Apple Watch has been growing in size, one that Apple can take advantage of to allow us to do more with our watches.
