The arrival of Final Fantasy XIV to Microsoft is getting closer. The Square Enix title will be released on Xbox Series X and S next Wednesday, February 21st starting at 9:00 Spanish peninsular time.
On the occasion of its “debut” on Xbox, the community will be able to enjoy an open beta of Final Fantasy XIV. However, Xbox players will have to pay twice if they want to fully experience Square Enix’s title.
The open beta will allow Xbox players to test the game for free and without the need to use Game Pass. After that, this beta will definitively conclude with the official release of Final Fantasy XIV. If at this point you still want to continue with the adventures of Eorzea, you will have to pay two subscriptions, one for Final Fantasy XIV and another for Xbox Game Pass Core or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
The open beta also comes with an important limitation: it will only be available for new players of Final Fantasy XIV. This leaves out anyone who has previously played the game on both PlayStation and PC.
On the other hand, Square Enix has also clarified that players who have registered for the free trial or paid subscription of FFXIV on another platform, will not be able to participate in the Xbox open beta.
