Fortnite always surprises us with its collaborations, some of them unexpected. The latest will be with the upcoming movie One Battle After Another, which will premiere on September 26 and stars the renowned actor Leonardo DiCaprio, directed by the acclaimed Paul Thomas Anderson. This announcement has caught the attention of fans, as the film’s theme is not the typical one for a video game like Fortnite, making it an especially intriguing crossover.
Will Fortnite players be interested?
The teaser released on the official Instagram account of the movie recreates a scene where DiCaprio’s character, replaced by Fortnite’s protagonist, Jonesy, receives a secret call in a phone booth, with the ominous phrase There are no hands on the clock as part of the promotion. However, it has not yet been specified what type of content will arise from this collaboration, leaving open the possibilities of whether it will include skins of the movie characters or missions assigned by NPCs on the battle map.
The narrative of One Battle After Another revolves around a former revolutionary played by DiCaprio, who reunites with other activists after the appearance of an old enemy. This thriller will also feature performances by Sean Penn as the antagonist, alongside Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, and Teyana Taylor in supporting roles.
The idea of seeing iconic characters like DiCaprio or Penn within the Fortnite universe is somewhat comical, allowing players to imagine unusual crossovers like Barry Egan from Punch-Drunk Love or Dirk Diggler from Boogie Nights fighting alongside the unusual items that have characterized the game. As these events unfold, Epic Games is also working to make Fortnite available again on iOS in the UK after a long legal battle that allowed its return to both the US and EU App Stores.
