Google has announced a series of modifications to the search functionality of YouTube, which include the addition of new filters and the renaming of some options to increase clarity.
These improvements come in response to user feedback, aiming to optimize content discovery on the platform.
One of the most notable new features is the introduction of a new filter that allows users to choose the type of content they want to include in their results.
Many people can no longer stand YouTube Shorts
This option is significant for those who prefer long-format videos, as they can choose to exclude short videos or YouTube Shorts from their searches. Although Google does not explicitly mention that these changes are implemented to avoid ‘AI-generated content’, it is possible that this is a positive side effect of the modifications.
In addition to the new filter that allows selecting the type of content, Google has renamed several sorting options to improve usability. The company has stated that it aims to simplify and reorganize the filter menu, making it more intuitive and aligned with user expectations.
Among the changes, two filters will be removed: ‘Upload date – Last hour’ and ‘Sort by rating’. However, users will still have the option to access the most recent results through other filters related to the upload date and will be able to explore popular videos through the new ‘Popularity’ option.
The company emphasizes that these adjustments aim to provide users with more effective search tools, thus facilitating the location of the content they wish to see.
