IO Interactive rolled out a free graphics update for 007 First Light on PC on September 15. It adds path tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction to the studio’s James Bond origin story.
On compatible NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards, the patch should make the game look noticeably better: richer lighting, shadows with more depth, indirect light that feels more natural, cleaner reflections, and a sharper image with less noise in scenes that lean heavily on ray tracing. This visual mode is only available on PC, so console players and anyone on unsupported hardware are out of luck. There’s no new gameplay content in the update. What it changes is the presentation, and that should matter quite a bit in a game built around sleek interiors, night-time cityscapes, and glossy spy-thriller set pieces that are clearly meant to look cinematic.
If you’ve got the RTX hardware for it, this is the version of the update you’ll want installed, and it does seem like the best way to play 007 First Light right now. The game launched in May 2026 as an origin story focused on a younger James Bond, with Patrick Gibson in the lead role. It sold 1.5 million copies in its first 24 hours and 4 million within three months, climbed to No. 1 in the UK and No. 2 in Japan, and picked up praise from IGN and GameSpot, both of which called it one of the strongest Bond games in years.
The update is free, and PC players can download it on September 15.
