007 First Light gets free Extended Operations update: 00 difficulty and New Game+ arrive
IO Interactive rolled out a big update for 007 First Light on October 1. The free Extended Operations expansion adds New Game+, a brutal 00 difficulty setting, Photo Mode, sharper weapon-handling animations, and extra TacSim missions.
Released on October 1, Extended Operations is the studio’s biggest post-launch update so far, according to IO Interactive.
One of the new missions is easy to pick out: it puts you in the Aston Martin Valhalla in the Slovakian mountains. It arrives after 007 First Light launched on May 27, when critics praised its Hitman-style mission design, combat, and Patrick Gibson’s take on a younger Bond. IO Interactive also says the game sold 1.5 million copies in its first 24 hours and hit 4 million by August.
If you’ve already finished Bond’s origin story and want a reason to come back, or you’re after a tougher challenge, this update looks well worth downloading. There’s also still a Bawma story mission on the way, following September’s PC path-tracing upgrade.
Amazon’s Bond era is moving ahead too. Steven Knight and Denis Villeneuve are attached to a new film, and media reports are still circling around possible 007 picks including Jacob Elordi, Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, and Jack Lowden.
