Christopher Nolan’s 2017 World War II drama Dunkirk hit Paramount+ in the US on September 1, 2026. Set during the 1940 evacuation of Allied troops from Dunkirk, France, the film pulls together an ensemble cast that includes Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Harry Styles, Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, and Jack Lowden. It’s also still sitting at a 92% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Quentin Tarantino has been especially enthusiastic about it. In interviews, he’s called Dunkirk his favorite recent WWII film, ranked it as his second favorite movie of the 2010s, and placed it fourth among the best films of the 21st century. He’s also said it took him three viewings before Nolan’s scale, the characters, and the movie’s emotional core fully clicked for him.

A lot of that comes from the way Dunkirk is built: land, sea, and air, all working together. Add the sparse dialogue, the visual storytelling, and Hans Zimmer’s score, and it’s easy to see why the film still lands as one of the defining modern war movies. One caveat, though: online claims that Tarantino singled out a specific favorite WWII shot from Dunkirk don’t seem to be supported by any widely available interviews.

Right now, Netflix hasn’t announced a new The Inbetweeners reunion movie, no matter what some online posts are claiming. Those claims say Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas are coming back, along with creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris.

There’s nothing solid backing that up. Netflix hasn’t put out a press release, hasn’t posted anything on its social channels, and there’s been no confirmation from the major entertainment trades either, which is exactly what you’d normally expect to see for a project this big.

And the comments that actually exist from 2023 and 2024 point in the other direction. Damon Beesley, Iain Morris and members of the cast have all said that any return would need a very good reason, partly because the cast are now too old to revisit the show’s teenage awkwardness. Simon Bird went further and called a reunion “a sad and desperate thing to do.” Greg Davies has brushed off the idea as well, and Beesley and Morris have also warned about doing damage to the series after 2018’s Fwends Reunited special.

If you’re a fan, this rumor isn’t worth buying into yet. Channel 4’s The Inbetweeners ran from 2008 to 2010 and later spun off into films in 2011 and 2014, which is why stories like this keep popping up again.

For now, there’s still nothing official from Netflix or from Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, and no solid sign that cameras are rolling.

By early 2026, Mistborn: Ashes, a fan-made proof-of-concept game based on Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn, was still exactly that: a concept showcase. SoulForge first revealed it in 2021, during the COVID lockdowns, and there’s still no sign of a full release.

SoulForge always framed Mistborn: Ashes as an unpaid, non-profit demonstration of what a big-budget Mistborn game might look like, not as an officially licensed commercial release. And even with the attention it got from readers and gaming outlets, the bigger picture hasn’t changed much. There haven’t been major public updates, no AAA publisher has stepped in, and nothing suggests Mistborn: Ashes is on its way to becoming a finished game.

The pitch itself was pretty easy to grasp. You’d play Vin in a third-person, “open-world lite” stealth-action game set in The Final Empire, moving through Luthadel and using Allomancy for both traversal and combat. SoulForge described Spider-Man-style Pushes and Pulls, rooftop movement, and coin attacks.

SoulForge also released a teaser, prototype gameplay footage, concept art, and music. Its reveal materials promised a mix of stealth and direct combat, heist missions, unlockable powers, dynamic AI, reactive NPC dialogue, development in Unreal Engine 4, and possibly a move to Unreal Engine 5 later on if Mistborn: Ashes ever advanced beyond the prototype stage.

If you’ve been hoping for an official Mistborn game, that’s still the thing to keep an eye on, not this project. In State of the Sanderson 2025 and in comments posted through early 2026, Brandon Sanderson said multiple AAA studios had shown genuine interest. Even so, an official Mistborn game is still only at the pitching stage, years after Mistborn: Birthright was canceled in 2017.

Google Photos is rolling out two new features on Android: Virtual Wardrobe and Manual Photo Stacks. One turns your photo library into a closet that more or less builds itself. The other gives you a lot more say over how similar photos get grouped.

Virtual Wardrobe looks through your Google Photos library, spots clothing items, and builds a searchable closet from what it finds. It can also suggest outfit pairings and generate preview images, which means you don’t have to upload every shirt, jacket, or pair of shoes yourself. The feature also fits neatly into Google’s broader push around shopping, visual search, and styling. That’s happening in a category some forecasts say could grow from roughly $1.8 billion in 2025 to $9.7 billion by 2034.

Manual Photo Stacks has already been on Google Photos for iPhone for almost a year, and now it’s coming to Android too. You pick several photos, tap Stack Photos, and group near-duplicate shots, burst sequences, or event pictures yourself when Google’s automatic stacking doesn’t quite nail it.

If Google Photos is something you use a lot, Manual Photo Stacks seems like the kind of feature you’ll actually use for regular cleanup. Virtual Wardrobe may have even more upside, simply because Google already has billions of photos sitting in its system to work with. Still, having Google analyze personal images that closely is going to make some people uneasy, and fairly so.

You can get both features in Google Photos on Android, though Virtual Wardrobe is only available right now to users in the US, Brazil, and India who are on select paid Google One plans. A wider rollout in the US is reportedly in progress, iPhone support is expected later, and even among eligible Google Photos users, the features won’t show up for everyone at the same time.

Renegade Game Studios has announced Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable, a solo-focused, card-crafting roguelike deck-builder in its Solo Hero Unstoppable line. Pre-orders are live now. Shipping is currently slated for November 2026, though Renegade still hasn’t pinned down an exact release date.

In the game, you play as Carl or Princess Donut and fight your way through the World Dungeon’s 18-floor deathtrap. The box covers the first three floors. Sleeve-based cards let you switch out attacks, gear, and abilities, and you can buy XP perks along the way, though only some of them carry over from one floor to the next. There’s also an optional two-player co-op mode.

If you already follow Dungeon Crawler Carl, this one stands out for a reason. The series started life as a Royal Road web novel in 2020 and has since turned into a massive franchise, with more than 14 million copies of the first eight books sold by July 2026. Jeff Hays’ audiobooks have also played a big part in bringing it to a much wider audience.

And the demand looks very real. BackerKit says the campaign for Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable, alongside the newly announced Dungeon Crawler Carl tabletop RPG, pulled in more than $13.29 million from nearly 56,000 backers, setting a new record for the platform.

Sony has reportedly approved a Killzone comeback, with multiple reports saying the series may finally be stirring again after going dark following 2013’s Killzone: Shadow Fall on PS4. Still, there are a few big caveats: the project is said to be in very early development, neither Sony nor Guerrilla Games has confirmed anything, and the plan could still change before it turns into something real.

What the reporting points to isn’t a brand-new sequel so much as a remaster or remake, most likely of the original 2004 Killzone. That would give Sony a fairly safe way to see how much appetite is left for a shooter series that reportedly sold around 2 million copies, while also giving newer players an easy way into it.

The same reports say Killzone would land before Horizon 3, which is apparently still years off and in the hands of a small team. That timing may also have something to do with Guerrilla’s multiplayer project, Horizon Hunters Gathering, which was reportedly rebooted after negative feedback. Guerrilla is also said to be working with an outside studio. Right now, the main guess is People Can Fly, largely because of its 2025 Project Delta deal with PlayStation.

If you’ve been holding out for Killzone, this is one rumor to keep an eye on. The 2024 Helldivers 2 crossover also lines up with that reading, based on the same reporting. There’s nothing to download yet, but if this turns out to be real, it’d mark Killzone’s first return in more than a decade and a clear move beyond Horizon.

0patch says it will keep shipping critical security micropatches for Microsoft Office 2021 until late 2029, after Microsoft confirmed that every edition of the one-time-purchase suite hits end of support on October 13, 2026.

Once that date passes, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the rest of Office 2021 will still open and run. What stops is the support around them: no Microsoft technical help, no bug fixes, and no security updates. Microsoft also says there won’t be an Extended Security Updates program for Office 2021, which means any new vulnerability discovered after that point could leave users more exposed to malware, ransomware, or data theft, especially in workplaces where Office files move back and forth all day.

0patch says it plans to cover that gap with critical security micropatches for at least three more years, taking support into late 2029, and maybe beyond that if enough people keep using it. That gives Office 2021 users another option besides moving to Microsoft 365 or buying Office 2024. Acros Security says its fixes are injected directly into memory instead of altering files on disk, so they can often be applied without restarting the machine. 0patch already does the same kind of coverage for Windows 10, Office 2016, and Office 2019.

If you’ve been putting off an upgrade because of the price, compatibility problems, line-of-business add-ins, or because you just don’t want another subscription, this looks like a practical stopgap. Running an unsupported copy of Microsoft Office can also turn into a compliance issue, cause trouble in audits, and complicate cyber-insurance coverage.

Huawei just unveiled the Huawei Mate XT 2, its latest tri-fold phone, and the timing wasn’t subtle. It landed two days before Apple is expected to show off its first foldable iPhone. Huawei is trying to seize the foldables story with a more complicated design, though who actually gets access to it will still depend on Huawei’s regional rollout, along with the software and trade restrictions that continue to shape the company’s reach.

By sticking with a three-section design instead of the book-style foldables and flip models Samsung, Motorola, and others keep polishing, Huawei is making the same bet again: that people want a phone that can open into a much larger screen for video, multitasking, and work. That three-part approach gives Huawei an early win in the news cycle, and it sends Apple a pretty direct message. Foldables have already moved past the stage of niche Android experiments. They’re thinner now, larger, and mechanically more ambitious, even if Apple is expected to take the safer path and concentrate on polish, software integration, and durability.

If you keep a close eye on premium phones, the Huawei Mate XT 2 is worth watching. Even so, tri-folds still look like products aimed first at early adopters , power users, and buyers willing to spend for a halo device rather than something built for the mass market. For everyone else, the bigger question is practicality, because foldables remain one of the few parts of the phone market where brands can still deliver real visual novelty now that yearly smartphone upgrades have started to flatten into one another.

Huawei is still strongest in China and still dealing with international software and trade limits, but the Mate XT 2 makes the company’s position pretty clear: Huawei isn’t stepping away from big hardware bets or from the fight to define where foldables go next. Whether that matters outside its core markets will depend on how far Huawei can actually roll this one out.

We’re only a couple of days away from Apple’s big event this fall. Next Wednesday, September 9, we’ll get our first look at the new iPhone 18 Pro and, according to all the rumors, also the company’s first foldable iPhone. The event has the tagline “Surprise and shine” and we’ll be able to follow it live from Cupertino. Let’s see how.

All eyes will be on the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, for which we’re expecting improvements in the cameras, chips, and, to a certain extent, the design. Perhaps as one of the biggest One More Thing moments in recent years, we’re also expecting the new iPhone Ultra, a foldable iPhone that would create a new category in the company’s lineup.

The latest rumors are once again mentioning the colors for the iPhone 18 Pro while we wait for pre-orders to start this coming Saturday, with questions still hanging over the planned release schedule for the foldable iPhone.

While we wait to see the new Apple Watch, the new AirPods, and perhaps another surprise in the smart home category. All signs point to an especially important event for Apple. One that we can already mark on the calendar and watch live this coming Wednesday.
