At the Venice Film Festival’s Venice Production Bridge, a TapNow panel with Alibaba, Sonilo, PROMPTR, and filmmaker Barry Dignam made a pretty direct case: generative filmmaking is already part of real production. The discussion stayed centered on tools people are using on actual projects, not hypothetical use cases.
Primodia was the clearest example the panel brought up. TapNow handled the concept art, while Creative OS used conversational prompts to generate video. More than anything, it showed how a small team can get from an idea to the screen faster, and how the Venice Production Bridge is now talking about working pipelines rather than simple demos. Sonilo said audio composition can drop from 10 hours to 20 seconds. Panelists also pointed to 80 to 90 percent gains in VFX and post, and TapNow used the panel to announce a Creator Growth Plan with Tap TV visibility and open compute for filmmakers.
If you make films or teach filmmaking, there’s something here to pay attention to. Barry Dignam of FilmEU said the priority should still be storytelling, critical thinking, composition, and editing, whatever platform happens to be in front of you. That sat alongside a run of examples from the panel: Danny Boyle’s Ink using 30 seconds of generated imagery, Dreams of Violets playing Tribeca, Alibaba releasing Wan2.2, Sonilo distributing on fal.ai, and PROMPTR making synthetic and hybrid films and commercials.
You can already find these tools across TapNow, Tap TV, Alibaba’s Wan2.2, and fal.ai, and the message in Venice was pretty plain: this is current production reality. The warnings were there too, around misinformation, authenticity, jobs, casting, and the ethics of nonfiction.
