Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil adaptation is finally official, and the announcement gave Capcom’s 2019 horror hit Resident Evil 2 Remake a real bump on PS5, with sales jumping by more than 50%. This is a game that had already sold in the millions, so the spike stands out. It says a lot about how much pull Resident Evil still has across games, movies, and everything around them. Older titles do climb during discounts or seasonal promos, sure, but the timing here lines up with the movie reveal, and Cregger’s track record from Barbarian and Weapons gives the project more weight than these adaptation announcements usually carry.

The buzz also makes sense. Resident Evil’s live-action run has split fans for years, so a Sony-backed movie that looks like a clean restart has a good chance of pulling people back in. That happens all the time with big franchises when they land a director people actually trust, cut a strong trailer, or start getting good word of mouth. If that momentum keeps building, Resident Evil 2 Remake probably won’t be the only game that benefits.

Naughty Dog has given fans a small update on both The Last of Us and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Studio head Neil Druckmann says two new stories set in The Last of Us universe are in very early development, and the studio is aiming for a full Intergalactic reveal in 2027.

According to Druckmann, these new The Last of Us projects push the canon past Part I and Part II, though he stopped short of saying whether either one is actually a game. He also repeated that Naughty Dog will only go back to that world if it has something real to say. Druckmann also thanked fans for showing up on The Last of Us Day, saying that support helped raise more than $11,000 for AbleGamers.

As for Intergalactic, Naughty Dog says it plans to stay quiet for the rest of the year. The 2027 reveal, if all goes to plan, should finally give fans a proper look at Jordan A. Mun, the bounty hunter stranded on Sempiria. The game is a PlayStation 5 sci-fi title set thousands of years in the future. It was announced in December 2024, reportedly went into development in 2020, and Naughty Dog is calling it the most ambitious game the studio has made so far.

If you keep a close eye on Naughty Dog, this is a meaningful update, especially after Intergalactic didn’t show up at Sony’s recent State of Play. Even so, there’s still no release window.

What we do know is simple enough: Intergalactic is coming to PlayStation 5, while the new The Last of Us projects still don’t have a confirmed format.

HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter TV series has cast Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. That gives the new adaptation its first official tie to the original Warner Bros. Harry Potter films.

Whitehouse is the first publicly announced cast member from the movie era confirmed to return. He previously played Sir Cadogan in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, though most of that role was cut from the theatrical release. This time, he’s stepping into a much bigger part as Hogwarts’ grumpy caretaker, the role fans remember from David Bradley.

For longtime fans, the choice feels like a small but clear bridge between the two versions. HBO gets to make a fresh, more book-faithful long-form adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s seven novels while still giving a nod to the Warner Bros. films, without depending on that connection too much.

HBO says the series, which is planned to run for a decade, will go further into the books than the movies did. The cast announced so far includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, and Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell. Until Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger are revealed, every update on the supporting cast is likely to get extra attention.

CD PROJEKT Red has added Xbox Play Anywhere support to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered ahead of its September 29, 2026 release. If you buy the digital Xbox version, you can use that same copy on a Windows PC too, with no extra charge.

Your saves and achievements will carry across Xbox and PC. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is launching on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s also the first Witcher game to get a day-one release on a Nintendo platform. Existing owners on supported platforms will get it as a free upgrade, according to CD PROJEKT Red.

CD PROJEKT Red says this is more than the 2022 next-gen patch. The remaster brings a rebuilt skill tree, better combat animations and finishers, reworked movement, and a wider batch of visual upgrades, including global illumination and path tracing on PC. Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are part of the package too.

If you’re coming back to Geralt’s adventure, this one looks worth grabbing. The original had already sold more than 65 million copies by May 2026, according to CD PROJEKT Red. Analysts think the remaster could push lifetime sales into the 70 to 75 million range, and CD PROJEKT Red already has the paid Songs of the Past expansion lined up for 2027, with a new mainline Witcher still targeting 2028.

Stargate Invasion, a fan-made total conversion mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, is now out online. It’s not a new Stargate series or movie, but it does give fans something they haven’t had in a while: a downloadable Stargate sandbox. The mod reshapes Stardock’s strategy game into a Stargate setup built around empire-building, research trees, fleet combat, and wars that stretch across star systems. It pulls from Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and parts of Stargate Universe. Based on the project’s ModDB and GitHub pages, the featured or planned factions include the Tau’ri, Goa’uld, Asgard Replicators, Ori, Asurans, Wraith, and Travellers. Even the Goa’uld Ha’tak model uses the Stargate Universe season 1 design.

Part of the reason Stargate Invasion is getting noticed is simple: there’s still no official live-action follow-up. Reports say Amazon MGM canceled Martin Gero’s Stargate revival in June 2026 before filming started, even after the project had reportedly spent about two years in development, got the green light in November 2025, assembled a full writers’ room, and had already entered UK pre-production. Executives reportedly had doubts about how big the audience would be, while insiders blamed turnover and shifting priorities. Amazon, for its part, has said it’s still looking into a reboot with a different team.

If you’re still chasing new Stargate more than 30 years after the 1994 film Stargate, and after 2018’s Stargate Origins, this is probably worth downloading.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day may be headed back to theaters with new footage, at least if the current reporting holds up. Sony Pictures hasn’t made it official, and there’s still no release date.

The talk around this version is that it wouldn’t just be the same movie with a different poster. The expanded cut is rumored to bring back deleted scenes, including one with Rosario Dawson returning as Claire Temple, and there could be a few other surprises folded in too.

From a box office standpoint, the timing tracks. A quick re-release can keep a movie in the conversation, help it chase bigger milestones, and stick to the same basic playbook used for Spider-Man: No Way Home and Avengers: Endgame.

Some of those reports also point back to comments director Destin Daniel Cretton made earlier about a longer version existing. That at least suggests there may be enough unused material sitting there to build a real expanded cut, not just a lightly repackaged one.

If what you want most is unseen Marvel connective tissue, this kind of expanded re-release could be worth the ticket. Then again, some fans will see it as a double dip, and they’re not wrong to be cautious since extra scenes can just as easily throw off the pacing as improve it.

For now, it’s still a rumor. Most of the reporting is centered on North American theaters, and there’s been no official word about any international rollout.

Opera for Android just added a new perk: a free eSIM offer. Most competing browsers are still trying to win people over with speed, privacy, AI tools, tabs, or data-saving features.

3GB isn’t a massive amount of data, but it’s enough for messaging, maps, email, ride-hailing, and light web browsing. If you travel now and then, or you just want a backup connection for the times when Wi‑Fi cuts out or your main carrier lets you down, that alone makes this update worth downloading. Opera also says you can activate the eSIM through the app, so you don’t have to go looking for a local SIM or deal with roaming charges.

There are a few limits, of course. Opera says availability depends on your device and region, and this will probably come with the usual activation steps, validity windows, and partner-network terms that tend to come with mobile data promotions.
