Apple TV+ is in a period of exponential growth. The streaming platform continues to release new series and seasons, and it has become the number 1 reference for science fiction in the industry. However, not everything is happy in Tim Cook‘s house. There are also series that they have to cancel, and the latest to fall has been The Afterparty.
Director Christopher Miller said a few days ago in Variety the following: “We would love to do a Season 3, not only because we have a bunch of great ideas, but because it would mean the AMPTP has reached a fair deal with the writers and we can get back to work.” However, Apple TV+ doesn’t seem to see it that way.
Chris Miller’s series does not survive past the second season
After two seasons, and despite receiving spectacular reviews, the series directed by Miller has come to an end. Undoubtedly, it was a somewhat strange decision, but the truth is that it didn’t have as much audience as it did critical acclaim. So, the best move for Apple TV+ was to end it and focus on other projects.
The show had many original aspects, such as each episode being set in a different film genre, and its premise was equally intriguing: “When a high school reunion after-party ends with an unexpected death, everyone becomes a suspect. An inspector interrogates the former classmates one by one, and as each one tells their version of the story, she uncovers possible motives until she reaches the shocking truth.”
Meanwhile, Apple TV+ continues to offer top-quality content: Foundation, Silo, Servant, Ted Lasso, Slow Horses… there are many hidden gems in its catalog, and it’s definitely worth checking them out.
