We can’t think of many games that are more anticipated than Hades II. The sequel to Supergiant Games’ game is generating unusual excitement for an indie game, given the success of its first installment. Therefore, it shouldn’t surprise us that every little detail that has appeared about the game has been eagerly devoured by its fans.
We are one of those fanatics. That’s why we bring you a compilation of everything we know so far about Hades II. Because along with the latest news, it’s much more than it seems.
First and foremost, it is important to note that there is currently an ongoing technical test for Hades II on Steam. If you wish to play the game before anyone else, you can register on the game’s Steam page. However, luck will be a determining factor. Many people are signing up and these types of tests are always limited, so only a few will be chosen. As a first small group of selected players has already demonstrated.
Aware of the interest it generates, Supergiant Games conducted a three-hour live stream on April 17th showcasing the content that can be played in the technical test of Hades II. And although it’s only three hours of a game that potentially will last more than 30 or 40 hours, there is a lot to talk about.
One thing we can talk about the least is the combat. From what we have seen in this first approach, the game’s combat remains very similar to the first one. The more detailed scenarios and a greater contrast of colors make it easier to see the projectiles, but in general terms, it seems that it has not changed particularly. Something that we will have to wait for in the future to know in detail.
What we do know is that the protagonist, named Melinöe, will not only fight and talk to the other gods of Olympus. She will also be able to fish and engage in agriculture, with which she will obtain different rewards, including passive benefits for the runs. Although we still don’t know all the details about it.
Where we do have very juicy information, in addition to much more, is in the characters. We have a new protagonist, the aforementioned Melinöe, whom we will get to know not only as a young adult, but also as a child. Known characters return, some of them with a significant redesign. The complete list of known characters that return includes Hades, Zeus, Demeter, Poseidon, Artemis, Aphrodite, Hypnos, and Charon.
Among the new ones, in addition to Melinoë herself, we have already seen twelve new characters. These are Hecate, Moros, Apollo, Nemesis, Dora, Cronos, Odysseus, Hestia, Hephaestus, Selene, and Arachne. Among the community, the designs of Hephaestus, Hecate, and Moros have caused a special impact. And we can’t say we don’t understand why.
Just like in the previous version, these characters will not only be part of the game’s narrative, but they will also grant us different powers when we encounter them in our matches. Integrating them within the game’s own systems.
Regarding the scenario, we should not expect big changes. Not when we are still in the underworld. The reason is that, after the events of the first game, Cronos, the titan of time, has escaped from his imprisonment, has captured Hades, and has started a war against Olympus. It is the duty of Melinoë, princess of the underworld, to dive back into the land of the dead to challenge, and only after a few failures, defeat the forces of Cronos.
Although the story will unfold later in the interaction with the characters, we still don’t know more details about it. But considering the number of characters, new and already known, we are sure that it will have more than enough content for those who want to see it all.
About when you can play and where, we know everything except the most important thing. Its release date. For now, you can sign up for the technical test on PC, which will last between one week and one month. After that, the game will be released in early access exclusively for PC. Its official release will happen around one or two years after its early access release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC.
