Meta is testing a new way to encourage user engagement on Threads using one of its flagship platforms, Instagram. The measure in question will allow us to cross-post images from Instagram to Threads.
We have learned through Techcrunch, one of the first media outlets to report on the news. Some users of these platforms have already reported seeing new settings that would allow them to make these cross-platform posts.

However, for now, it’s all just tests and it’s optional for users. In case you want to use this feature, the description of the Instagram photo will become text for Threads and the hashtags will be converted into plain text.
In addition, Meta is also carrying out a bonus program for the most active creators on Threads to encourage them to publish more regularly. As Mark Zuckerberg himself pointed out in the first quarter results conference in 2024, Threads has already surpassed the barrier of 150 million active users.
