Halo: Campaign Evolved is out now, and its ending drops the strongest hint so far that a full Halo 2 remake is probably coming next.
Beat Halo: Campaign Evolved and you’ll unlock two direct nods to what comes after. On Legendary, Sergeant Avery Johnson looks straight at you and says, “See you in the sequel.” On any difficulty, there’s also a post-credits scene where 343 Guilty Spark heads toward a gas giant, which lines up with Halo 2’s opening setup. Push Square and Eurogamer both read that as about as close to an explicit setup as you can get without an announcement.
The timing makes sense, too. 343 Industries has rebranded as Halo Studios, and the team has swapped Slipspace for Unreal Engine 5 as part of a broader reset meant to make development easier and open the door to a wider hiring pool.
Halo: Campaign Evolved looks like the first real test of that plan. Early reaction has been mostly positive, especially around the visuals and how closely the gameplay still feels tied to the original, so a Halo 2 follow-up feels like the next obvious move.
Then there are the leaks. Rebs Gaming has also reported that Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes are already in active development, which points to a full trilogy rollout rather than a single nostalgia project.
If you keep up with Halo, this is one to watch, even if plenty of fans still say a Halo 2 remake without multiplayer wouldn’t feel complete. Either way, both scenes are already unlockable in Halo: Campaign Evolved.
