A few months ago we discovered Anora, the film that conquered the Cannes Film Festival and showed that Sean Baker, director of the also award-winning The Florida Project and Red Rocket, is one of the most interesting filmmakers of the moment. Now, we can finally watch the trailer of the feature film, and it promises to be a unique story in cinemas.
As we see in the trailer, in Anora we put ourselves in the shoes of a young sex worker from Brooklyn, who has the opportunity to live a Cinderella story when she meets and impulsively marries the son of an oligarch. But when the news reaches Russia, where her family lives, her fairy tale is threatened, as her parents leave for New York to try to annul the marriage.
What is Anora, the film that has conquered the Cannes Film Festival, about?
With a scheduled release in theaters on the upcoming October 18th, Anora features a cast led by Mikey Madison, Mark Eydelshteyn, Yuriy Borisov, Karren Karagulian, and Vache Tovmasyan. Undoubtedly, after succeeding at Cannes, it will try to continue doing so at other festivals, and it will probably make its way into the interesting race for the Oscars next year.
