Although the Harry Potter movies are already an enduring icon, Warner doesn’t want the license to fade away, and that’s why they are already working on a remake series of J.K. Rowling’s book saga. The first thing they have done, logically, is to open the casting for the child protagonists, and for that they are looking for ‘children who will be between 9 and 11 years old in April 2025 and who are residents of the United Kingdom and Ireland.’
However, the casting has not emphasized on more data than these, regardless of anything else. The production company is committed to ‘an inclusive and diverse casting,’ and for this, it is requested that children be ‘qualified actors, regardless of ethnicity, gender, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other basis protected by law unless specifically stated otherwise.’

An open and unrestricted casting
Although it is still too early to notice anything, this open casting already advocates not paying much attention to the physical descriptions of Rowling’s books, although the truth is that some of them do not even specify their skin color, as in the case of Hermione. In fact, she was played by a black actress in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and the same may happen in the future series.
