Google NotebookLM now lets everyone edit flashcards on the web and mobile, free users included. You can open any flashcard the AI generated and change it yourself.
So if a prompt is weak, an answer is wrong, the wording is too complicated, or a card is missing context, you can fix it on the spot instead of regenerating cards and hoping the next batch turns out better.
That makes the whole workflow feel a lot less rigid. You can shape each deck around your notes, the way you study, and the memory cues that actually work for you. And for learning, that matters.
When you rewrite questions in your own words or add an example, you’re doing the kind of active recall that helps things stick. NotebookLM still keeps its summaries and flashcards tied to the source material you upload, whether that’s lecture notes, PDFs, articles, or class documents.
If you use Google NotebookLM for studying, this is a solid update. It fixes one of the product’s biggest frustrations, makes the experience feel much closer to Quizlet, and fits with Google’s broader education push.
That push also includes Gemini 3.5-powered study features, classroom work with UNICEF in Brazil, India, Pakistan, and Kenya, plus educator training in the US.
You can use the updated flashcards right now in Google NotebookLM on the web and mobile.
