Ratatan is coming later than planned. Ratata Arts has moved the full release to October 15, 2026, which puts it three months behind the original July 16, 2026 date. The launch is still planned for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
The studio says that extra development time will be spent tightening up multiplayer stability, fixing bugs, and adjusting the game around feedback from Steam Early Access. Producer Sakajiri Kazuto said the team hadn’t realized just how many changes would be needed until they saw how players responded.
Ratatan has been positioned as a spiritual follow-up to Patapon from creator Hiroyuki Kotani. It mixes rhythm-based inputs with squad combat, roguelike progression, and army customization. Interest in the project has stayed high, helped along by a Kickstarter campaign that raised nearly $1.5 million and very positive feedback from players on Steam Early Access.
If you’re planning to jump in at launch, the delay may be easier to live with if it leads to smoother timing-based multiplayer. That probably matters even more in a crowded fall release season, with Grand Theft Auto 6 arriving on November 19, 2026. Ratata Arts also says anyone who pre-orders will get the Digital Deluxe Edition DLC at no extra cost, including the Cobun Set, Equipment & Accessories Set, and Supply Set.
If you don’t want to wait, you can already play Ratatan in Steam Early Access. Ratata Arts says the full release is still on track for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC on October 15, 2026.
