Amazon’s God of War series at Prime Video is still moving forward. The latest reports say Season 2 is already being lined up, even while Season 1 stays stuck in a messy production stretch.
Reported casting calls say Amazon is looking for 14- to 17-year-old actors to play teenage Atreus and Thrud. That points to a bigger time jump and probably material from the Ragnarök period. Younger versions were reportedly already in place for Season 1, with Callum Vinson linked to Atreus, Island Austin to Thrud, and Atreus described early on as a one-year series regular.
There’s also more trouble around Kratos. Reports say Ryan Hurst is being replaced after a severe bicep tear, surgery, and recovery. No new lead has been named. Production, which had been planned for back-to-back filming, is now paused until October 2026, and the first four completed Season 1 episodes are said to be getting reshot under Ronald D. Moore in Vancouver. Teresa Palmer as Sif, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor have also been reported as part of the cast.
If you follow God of War, this is one to keep an eye on. Amazon still seems committed for the long haul, but until it names a new Kratos, every other update comes with an asterisk.
