AMD changes its gaming approach thanks to the success of the RX 9000 series

AMD has made the decision to exit the high-end consumer graphics segment, leaving NVIDIA with an almost total monopoly in that market.

However, their new focus on the mid-range has shown unexpected success with the launch of the RX 9000 graphics cards, especially the RX 9070 XT, which has surpassed the monthly sales of the entire RTX 50 series since its launch in early March.

The new graphics cards were officially announced and hit the market with a performance comparable to the RTX 5070 Ti, but at a more accessible price.

The RX 9060 XT will compete with Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti at a lower price

AMD’s original plans included presenting the RX 9000 series at CES 2025, but the company decided to cancel the event and opted for a launch in the first quarter of the year.

This change in strategy seems to have been successful, as the success of the RX 9070 XT has led AMD to accelerate the launch of new models, including the highly anticipated RX 9060 XT, which is now expected on May 18, 2025, just before Computex.

The RX 9060 XT will be available in 8 and 16 GB versions of GDDR6 memory and is expected to have performance similar to the RTX 5060 Ti. However, it will use GDDR6 memory instead of NVIDIA’s GDDR7, which means lower technical specifications and a bandwidth of 320 GB/s compared to its competitor’s 448 GB/s.

It is rumored that the price of the RX 9060 XT will range between 300 and 400 euros, making it more affordable than the RTX 5060 Ti, which has a starting price of 405 euros.

With these moves, AMD seems to want to diversify its offering and capture a segment of the market where consumers are looking for more options within a reasonable price range. The RX 9060 XT is expected to further consolidate AMD’s recent resurgence in the gaming sector, and that is a reason for joy.
