Apple has released a hugely important update to its office apps. Pages, Keynote, and Numbers are getting Intelligent Assistant, an artificial intelligence tool that will let us create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets much more easily. A step forward in the integration of Apple Intelligence into the apps we already use that goes quite a bit further than what we’ve had until now.
An assistant that understands our documents
The new assistant understands the content we work with and responds to simple written requests, according to 9to5Mac. All of this happens directly inside each app. Let’s see exactly what we can do.
In Pages we can start a draft, reorganize its content, and adjust the tone of any section. A major upgrade to the Writing Tools that helps us write much faster and with far greater precision.
In Keynote we can generate slides, add animations, and prepare the notes that will accompany our presentations. We can also create images and shapes from simple descriptions, following the path that Image Playground opened up a few years ago.
Numbers, meanwhile, will help us build the most complex formulas, generate tables, suggest charts, and analyze our data. In addition, all three apps will now be able to search for up-to-date information on the internet and incorporate it into our projects when we ask them to.
A new feature included with Apple Creator Studio
Intelligent Assistant is available in beta for Apple Creator Studio subscribers, initially in U.S. English and on devices running iOS 27. The subscription costs $12.99 a month and also includes templates, themes, and videos.
Alongside these new features, Apple has announced that Keynote is debuting the open .keyx format to make it easier to exchange presentations, which could allow third-party AIs to interact with our presentations. Overall, Apple is heading in an interesting direction by making it possible to work with AI in the apps we already know and use.
