Cyberpunk is getting a strange little scheduling coincidence this winter. Blade Runner 2099 hits Prime Video on November 25, 2026, and Neuromancer lands on Apple TV+ on January 22, 2027, so two of the genre’s biggest worlds will reach streaming only weeks apart. Prime Video is dropping all eight episodes of Blade Runner 2099 at once. Apple TV+ is taking the slower route with Neuromancer, rolling out its 10-episode season weekly into mid-March.
That puts the first Blade Runner TV series and the first screen version of William Gibson’s 1984 novel almost back to back.
People have been lining these two up against each other for years. Blade Runner gave cyberpunk its noir visual language; Neuromancer pushed a quicker, more wired vision of the future, one that kept showing up later in things like The Matrix and Altered Carbon. Now both are getting the kind of big-budget streaming adaptation usually reserved for crown-jewel IP.
Blade Runner 2099 looks built around mood first: memory, humanity, artificial life. Ridley Scott is on board as an executive producer, and Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer lead the cast. Neuromancer is aiming at a different part of the genre, leaning harder into hacking, cyberspace, and digital consciousness, with Callum Turner and Briana Middleton starring and William Gibson also serving as an executive producer.
If you pay close attention to sci-fi, this is the kind of head-to-head moment you’ll want to keep tabs on, especially now that cyberpunk themes are picking up steam again and interest in the genre is climbing with them. Blade Runner 2099 will stream on Prime Video. Neuromancer will stream on Apple TV+.
