Just one week left to get your hands on one of the most anticipated titles of 2023: Blasphemous 2. The video game crafted by the Seville-based studio The Game Kitchen is back after nearly four years of development, a period during which they’ve introduced numerous innovations… which we can now see for the first time in exquisite detail, thanks to an extensive gameplay showcase.
IGN has published a comprehensive video on their website showcasing the first 16 minutes of gameplay from Blasphemous 2. Throughout this footage, players can witness some of the introduced innovations, with the most significant being the ability to choose from three weapons: a war censer, a dagger and rapier, and a sword. In the featured video, the player opts for the war censer as the primary weapon (though it doesn’t imply that the other two cannot be acquired later).
Furthermore, other inclusions in this sequel can also be seen, such as the use of traditional animated cutscenes. Unlike the pixel art animation style in the first game, this second installment has taken a leap in quality, showcasing sequences with a more visually striking and captivating style. Additionally, the introduction of the “retablo” can be observed, which allows players to create different builds for the Penitent character to configure their abilities and more.
Blasphemous 2 will be available on August 24th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox are also in development but will not be released until the fall (with a specific date yet to be announced).
