BriskPace Unlimited, a new German label launched by BriskPace Studios, is now officially in play. Founder Al Munteanu unveiled first-look footage during his keynote at the MIA market in Rome, putting the company on the map with a mix of tech-first productions, micro-dramas, and creator-led formats.
Set up in 2025 by Al Munteanu and the team behind SquareOne Productions, BriskPace Unlimited is kicking off with The Light and Hard Times of Lucky Briscoe. It’s a true-crime comedy about an imprisoned orangutan with political ambitions, and the story stretches from Communist Romania to a bizarre run as a sitcom star, self-help guru, cult leader, fashion icon, and politician, before landing in federal prison.
BriskPace says the pilot is already complete, and Munteanu screened first-look footage during his Rome keynote, so this isn’t just a slate of ideas or a project still sitting in development. There’s a finished show here.
Munteanu created the series and is attached as executive producer and co-director. Cunk on Earth writer Jason Hazeley is on board as showrunner, The Amazing World of Gumball writer Joe Markham handled script duties, and Tom Paton is co-directing.
The show relies on software-generated imagery and music, though BriskPace says human creatives are still steering the work. That lines up with a corner of the market that some forecasts value at $10.2 billion by 2030. If you keep an eye on tech-first entertainment, this one should probably stay on your list.
You can’t watch The Light and Hard Times of Lucky Briscoe anywhere yet. There’s still no distributor attached and no international pre-sales announced, though BriskPace Unlimited also owns a minority stake in Tom Paton’s company and has backed Sweetz alongside Groupe M6 and Snips.
