Prime Video rolled out Mike Flanagan’s limited-series take on Carrie, Stephen King’s first novel, worldwide on October 7, 2026, reaching more than 240 countries and territories. Prime Video says that in less than a week, Carrie had already hit No. 1 on the service, pushing past Reacher and its spinoff, Neagley. Flanagan’s version shifts King’s story into a deeply online setting, where cyberbullying, social media pressure, and the daily grind of modern teen harassment sit right at the center.
That’s a fast climb, especially since Reacher is still one of Amazon’s biggest properties. The show has already been renewed through seasons 5 and 6, and Nielsen previously reported that Neagley pulled in more than 3 billion minutes watched over two weeks. Carrie, for its part, is off to a strong start too: it’s sitting at 85% Certified Fresh with critics and 86% with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Stephen King has also given it his stamp of approval, calling it “brilliant” and saying its social-media angle feels “shocking and true.”
If you follow Stephen King adaptations, this one’s probably worth a look. The biggest point of debate, though, is a major change to the story: Carrie reportedly survives. Flanagan has said that choice brings some hope into the ending and leaves the door open for possible future seasons.
Carrie is streaming on Prime Video now. At the moment, Prime Video has it ranked ahead of Amazon’s action giants Reacher and Neagley, while Netflix’s Below is breaking out in the same Stephen King-style horror lane.
