In a surprising turn of events, Chevrolet has emerged as the fastest-growing electric vehicle (EV) brand in the United States, surpassing industry giants Tesla and Rivian.
This surge in growth is attributed to the success of their models including the Equinox, Blazer, and Silverado. General Motors (GM) announced that their share of the U.S. electric vehicle market doubled over the past year, reaching approximately 12.5% in the fourth quarter of 2024.
This places them comfortably ahead of Ford, solidifying their position as the second-largest EV seller in the country, trailing only behind Tesla, which retains a 50% market share.

The Chevrolet Equinox EV has been a standout performer, witnessing an impressive 85% increase in sales during the fourth quarter. Despite being launched only last year, it has already positioned itself as the eighth best-selling EV in the U.S.
With a competitive starting price of $34,995 and an estimated range of up to 319 miles, the Equinox EV is labeled as “America’s most affordable 315+ miles range EV”. Its appeal is further enhanced by the availability of federal tax credits, which can reduce its effective price to around $27,500.
The new 2025 Blazer EV also arrived on the scene, starting at $45,995 and offering a range of up to 312 miles. Orders for the Blazer EV SS opened recently, featuring multiple powertrain options. With leasing options that begin at just $299 per month and financing offers at 0% APR, it’s clear why consumer interest is surging. Notably, 23% of potential buyers report being “very likely” to consider an EV for their next purchase, reflecting a growing trend toward electrification in the automotive market.
As Chevrolet continues to innovate and expand its electric lineup, industry experts are closely watching its impact on a rapidly evolving marketplace where traditional automakers are increasingly competing with established EV players. The growth trajectory of Chevrolet in the EV segment showcases a significant shift that could reshape the industry’s landscape.
