DC has premiered with honors in theaters with Superman, but there are still many pieces missing in its machinery to truly consider it a success. This movie has paved the way for a series of ongoing projects, which include titles like Supergirl and Clayface, although there is an urgent need to quickly establish the DC Trinity, made up of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.
Princess Diana has arrived!
According to recent reports, Warner Bros. and DC Studios are “accelerating” the development of a new Wonder Woman movie, driven by the positive reception of Superman. During the promotion of his new film, director James Gunn mentioned that the Wonder Woman project is in active development, which means it could become a reality sooner rather than later, although no details about the script or director have been revealed. This contrasts with the development of The Brave and the Bold, the movie that will introduce a new Batman, which is still in the early stages.
Gunn has been cautious in his approach, ensuring that no script will be approved until it is in a good stage of development, which could delay the production of future films, including Wonder Woman. According to his statements, the dedication to the time needed to ensure solid visual effects may contribute to delays in the release. Both films, Superman and the upcoming Supergirl, finished their production approximately a year before their release, suggesting that Wonder Woman could follow a similar path.
Although the approval of a new Wonder Woman movie could be a delight for fans, it may need more time before it hits the big screen, possibly not before 2027. Nevertheless, the fact that progress is being made in this direction is a positive sign for the future of the DCU.
