The simplicity with which we can share any item with anyone on our iPhone or iPad is truly amazing. The Share button is ready to even give us suggestions of people we might want to send the content to, for instance, via AirDrop. And if we want to remove people from that sharing sheet? How to reduce the appearance of specific contacts
The Share Sheet, or Share function, is a feature in iOS that appears when tapping the share button (a square with an arrow pointing upwards) in any application. At the top of this sheet, a row of suggested contacts with whom we’ve recently interacted is displayed.
These contacts are suggested based on our past activity, which can be useful, but sometimes we may prefer not to see certain contacts. Fortunately, informing the system of this is as easy as following these steps:
- We open any content that is likely to be shared and tap the Share button to access the sheet.
- We press and hold on the contact we want to make disappear.
- Select Suggest less.
Note that this method does not guarantee that the contact disappears completely, but if we repeat the process every time it appears, our iPhone or iPad will understand our choice to stop appearing almost permanently.
How to delete all contacts from the share sheet
If we prefer another, more definitive option, and we want to remove all the suggested contacts from the share sheet, we can also do it. To do this, follow these steps:
- We open the Settings app on our iPhone or iPad.
- We enter Siri and Search.
- Under the heading “Apple Suggestions”, we deactivate Show on Sharing.
By making these changes, we will no longer see contact profiles at the top of the share sheet. If we later decide to revert this setting, we simply turn the option back on to make them appear again.
Customization, just as when we talk about customizing the iPhone home screen, is key to the user experience. By adjusting the settings of the share sheet on our iPhone, we can better regulate who appears in our recommendations and, therefore, have cleaner quick access to send content to whomever we want.
