Warhammer is everywhere. Beyond figures and tactical battles, it is one of the franchises that knows how to exploit transmedia the most and the best. With an absolutely obscene amount of video games, there is a video game for every Warhammer player. Almost literally. This was demonstrated in the presentation that took place yesterday, where all the new Warhammer video games were shown.
To begin with, a notice. There were hardly any announcements of new video games, but there were many DLCs, collaborations, and expansions. And although it may sound less exciting than a carousel of new games to be announced, it is still very interesting.
The first announcement, and probably the most exciting one for most people, is the crossover between Call of Duty and Warhammer 40K. Space Marines, Battle Sisters, Astra Militarum skins, and more will be coming to Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 on a yet to be announced date.
After that announcement, a series of new content announcements for existing games followed. Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War has received the Demolition Pack, which includes eleven new units distributed among all existing factions. Total War: Warhammer 3 introduced a new legendary hero, Karanak, the Hound of Vengeance, while also giving a glimpse of its new DLC, Thrones of Decay.
Meanwhile, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader introduced its first DLC, Void Shadows, which will include a new complete story along with several characters. Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr introduced the DLC for its new class: the Hierophant. And Warhammer 40,000: Darktide introduced its upcoming update, Secrets of the Machine God, where we will explore a Mechanicus research station.
To change the pace, they showed two trailers of two previously announced games. On one hand, Warhammer Combat Cards, where we will fight with cards representing Warhammer 40K figures. On the other hand, Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freaks is a free-to-play 8 vs. 8 racing game where the orcs will compete in impossible competitions.
After that, we went back to the presentation of new content for already released games. This time, strategy games. Warhammer 40,000: Warpforge has introduced a new faction, Adepta Sororitas, which will arrive on May 23rd. Warhammer The Horus Heresy: Legions, another card game, will include the Special Wolves with new cards, mechanics, and more on June 21st. Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus will include a new update, Machines of War, which will allow us to use a sixth unit. And Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector presented a new update that will include three new units, as well as announcing a future DLC that will include the Astra Militarum.
Entering the field of action, there were two very interesting content updates. Warhammer Vermintide 2 will include an in-game event, called Skulls for the Skull Throne, and a quality of life update on May 23rd. Additionally, it will include a new Versus mode on May 30th. On the other hand, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun will receive a DLC on June 18th, called Forges of Corruption, which will include an expansion and a new horde mode.
The two big announcements, in any case, happened at the beginning and at the end. The event started with a new trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
