The best modern animated series will have an anime version. This bombshell has been announced by Warner Bros. Discovery and will reach Max, its new service.
Late yesterday Warner Bros. Discovery gave us the bombshell of the year. In audiovisual terms, of course. Its application would no longer be HBO Max, but changed its name to Max. And with this name change, many others that you have here explained.
And while the name change and service change is really shocking, not far behind are the series and movie announcements that were confirmed yesterday after weeks of rumors.
HBO confirmed the Harry Potter series, showed a teaser for The Penguin and even revealed that the anime series Rick and Morty will be coming to the service later this year, among many other news.
What we know about Rick and Morty: The Anime
Known simply as Rick and Morty: The Anime, all we know for now is that the series is coming to Max later this year.
No mention of plot, or voice cast, although it seems likely that Justin Roiland could be back, as he was previously acquitted of domestic violence charges against him.
As we have learned, Rick and Morty: The Anime will be produced by Telecom Animation Film, the studio behind the Rick and Morty anime shorts that Adult Swim has been releasing in recent years. Because the idea for the anime didn’t come out of nowhere, it had been in the works for some time.
Director Takeshi Sano, who directed those shorts, will helm the new Rick and Morty anime series and it has been announced that it will consist of ten episodes. If it works we can speculate that a second season will be announced.
With Rick and Morty: The Anime, the Warner Bros. Discovery team secures a new hit animated series to complete their catalog, which will have to grow and improve exponentially if they want to justify the big price hike that is coming.
