Beetlejuice 2 is already a reality. The sequel to the mythical 1988 film is in the middle of shooting, and Tim Burton returns to direct but with a luxury cast that has nothing to envy to that of the first installment. Michael Keaton returns as Beetlejuice, Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and two new actors join the formula: Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) as Lydia’s daughter and Justin Theroux in an unconfirmed role.
Although we still know very little about Burton’s next film, scheduled for release on September 6, 2024, filming is already underway. From the Daily Mail they have been able to check it out by leaking some stolen photos, and it certainly looks like we are going to have more and better of what we all already knew in the eighties.
Lydia Deetz as if no time has passed
In the images leaked by the newspaper we can see Winona Ryder inside a car, apparently filming a scene that happens inside the vehicle. But the curious thing is Ryder’s face. She is completely characterized as Lydia Deetz: she has the makeup, hair and clothing of the original film, as if the years had not passed.
We still don’t know exactly what role Lydia Deetz will play in the sequel. Everything seems to indicate that her daughter, played by Jenna Ortega, will be even more protagonist, and may form a new duo with Beetlejuice. In fact, some might even think that Ryder’s character will die in this sequel, perhaps reappearing as a ghost, but the leaked images from the set don’t seem to indicate that exactly.
We’ll still have to wait a bit to know more about Beetlejuice 2, but if images from the set continue to leak out, maybe sooner rather than later we’ll know more, just like with the Joker sequel and the Lady Gaga images.
