In 2005, and after several unsuccessful video games of their own, LEGO tried to do something completely different: an adventure based on a franchise with designs and humor characteristic of the brand. The result was LEGO Star Wars 2005, which adapted the prequel trilogy. It was such a success that they immediately started working on other licenses such as Batman, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Lord of the Rings. But we never could have imagined what they just announced.
Aloy to the cube
After venturing into Fortnite, it became clear that the next world LEGO was going to attack was the world of video games, giving them a twist. That’s why, at the end of the year, LEGO Horizon Adventures will arrive, a version of the classic Horizon by Sony exclusively for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. We already knew of its existence, but seeing it is one thing, believing it is another.
Actually, its first thirty seconds show a character dressed as a hot dog. Because it’s LEGO. And here the seriousness of Horizon goes down the drain immediately, luckily. You know how it goes: walk through the map, defeat enemies, collect pieces, and build your home as you want. Have you ever thought that Aloy’s village should have a Ferris wheel? Don’t worry: apparently, you’re not the only one. The game is developed by Guerrilla (the authors of the original), so we should be in good hands. When do we start kicking LEGO-style?
