Game Freaks, the studio behind Pokémon, makes more video games than the most famous monsters in the world. Although they’re generally games that go unnoticed because of their scope or low profile, they take on all kinds of projects unrelated to digital monsters when they get the chance. And as is the case here, sometimes they’re really curious. Because they have us doing the laundry.
A game like no other
Ame no Chi Hare Onna is a mobile game influenced by real-life weather, where we’ll play as a girl who is secretly a magical girl, like Sailor Moon, with the ability to improve people’s moods by turning the weather into raw power. How this will connect with the laundry and high school elements, in addition to the gacha aspects hinted at in the trailer, is something that still has to be explained. Although it’s undeniable that it’s a premise unlike anything we’ve heard before.
We won’t have to wait much longer to learn the details, either. They’ve already confirmed that they’ll announce more details about the game during Tokyo Game Show, which will be held between September 17 and 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. So while we’re pretty baffled by the game, at least in a few days we’ll know how any of this ties into doing the laundry.
