While it’s gearing up for the beta test of Google Play Games’ PC version, Google Play isn’t just limited to its mobile game service. It also covers apps from different platforms, as well as device system features unique to Google. That’s why April 2022’s planned update comes with a variety of content for all users to appreciate.
The major updates to Google Play Store are new features for the Play Pass and Play Points programs, letting users access apps through various means. There are also new ways to discover apps and games on the Play Store, and the Play-as-you-download feature’s waiting times have improved. Other optimizations for the Play Store include faster and stable downloads and installations, enhancements to Google Billing and Play Protect, and various bug fixes.
Meanwhile, other parts of the update cover critical fixes for security and system management services for some devices, and new developer features for Google and third-party app developers. The last one is for ad support, accessibility, security, and the like in their apps. All of these will roll out by April 1, and users must ensure that their Google Play services version is v22.12 while their Play Store version is v29.9.
The bigger updates here aren’t too groundbreaking for most users, but they’ll definitely be handy for those who frequently use the Google Play Store app. Just be sure to always stay alert regarding the apps you download, as some can still slip through the Play Store’s policies. One app, in particular, can maliciously steal Google Play users’ credentials.
