Google Shopping has launched a feed tailored to the user’s interests that personalizes their shopping experience. Available on both mobile and desktop through shopping.google.com, this new feed is based on the user’s recent searches and YouTube video history to offer personalized recommendations. The goal is to create a shopping experience similar to platforms like TikTok or Instagram, which also have a feed, called “For You” with algorithmic recommendations.

As they scroll down, the feed will display recommended products and videos related to items of interest. If a recommendation is not to the user’s liking, they can click the thumbs down button to prevent Google from showing similar items in the future.
“Imagine a store tailored to your current interests, and that’s really what we set out to create here,” commented Sean Scott, vice president and general manager of consumer shopping at Google, in a briefing. Additionally, the company has introduced a personalized offers tab that will display products adjusted to the user’s preferences, as long as they are logged in.

Another relevant update is the incorporation of AI-generated summaries in the “Shopping” tab, which provide tips on what to look for in a product. For example, for a search like “matcha teapot,” Google may recommend products highlighted by features such as “precise temperature control” or “quick boiling.”
The new Google Shopping features will be rolled out over the coming weeks in the United States, for both mobile device and computer users.
