Grand Theft Auto 6 hit Sony’s PlayStation Store for pre-order on 25 June 2026, and it quickly climbed to the top of the sales charts in the US, UK, Japan, South Korea, and much of Europe. For a game that doesn’t launch until 19 November 2026, that’s an early sign of just how much demand is building. At the same time, a lot of the viral talk around pre-orders and revenue is still just that: talk. None of the bigger claims have been verified.
In a lot of regions, the top listing is the $100/£90 Ultimate Edition. That changes how you read the charts, since PlayStation Store rankings are based on revenue, not raw units sold. Kuwait and Taiwan appear to be the outliers, with reports suggesting Grand Theft Auto 6 is either unavailable there or banned.
If you’re planning to buy Grand Theft Auto 6, take the chart performance as a real early signal, but be careful with the numbers flying around online. Claims of 39 million pre-orders, $3 billion in first-day revenue, and an eight-to-one PlayStation 5 lead over Xbox haven’t been verified. Microsoft has pushed back on the platform split and says Xbox demand is at a record high.
Rockstar may also be giving digital sales a boost by reportedly putting only a download code inside the boxed copy. No disc. Some buyers and retailers aren’t happy about that, but it does give Rockstar tighter control over leaks, launch messaging, and resale. You can pre-order Grand Theft Auto 6 now on PlayStation 5 through Sony’s PlayStation Store ahead of the 19 November 2026 launch. Other publishers are reportedly shifting release dates to stay out of its way, Take-Two Interactive says anticipation is unmatched, and Rockstar staff are seeking union recognition after last year’s firing dispute.
