This summer, it seems the cinema will be dominated by animated movies. Recently we had the premiere of Inside Out 2, the Pixar movie that brought the studio back to its golden age thanks to an enthusiastic audience. But this isn’t the only Pixar hit that the little ones at home are going to enjoy this season, because they’ve just released another movie that promises to be great: Despicable Me 4.
The fourth installment of Despicable Me, the movie that introduced the famous Minions, recently premiered, boasting a first weekend that brought in more than $122 million in the United States, which, after adding the international numbers, approaches $220 million. It’s one of the best premieres of the year, and it is very close to what Inside Out 2 achieved in its first days.
The Minions are back in fashion
Within the franchise itself, the data for Despicable Me 4 is also incredible. It’s the second-highest-grossing film in the saga after Despicable Me 2, which managed to surpass this installment at the very peak of the saga. In addition, the four main films each surpass both Minions ($115.7 million) and Minions: The Rise of Gru ($107 million) in their respective theatrical releases.
