Obbe Vermeij, a former developer at Rockstar Games, has shared his expectations about Grand Theft Auto 6, stating that it’s going to be the best game ever, although some fans might feel disappointed at its release.
After almost 14 years as a technical director at Rockstar, in which he played a crucial role in the programming of GTA 3, 4, Vice City, and San Andreas, Vermeij left Rockstar in 2019. Although he is no longer involved in the development of the franchise, his experience allows him to offer an informed perspective on the upcoming title.
Vermeij commented in a recent interview with SanInPlay, a YouTube content creator, that he has no insider information about GTA 6, but he was impressed with the trailer, highlighting the beach scene where each individual seems to have a unique animation, which “blows my mind.” Despite his enthusiasm, Vermeij is not sure how much GTA 6 will differ from its predecessor. “I don’t think it’s going to be very different from GTA 5, maybe people will feel a little disappointed on the first day,” he said. “But it will still be the best game that exists.”
Showing optimism about the game, Vermeij praised the atmosphere of Miami, stating that “it suits GTA very well.” So far, Rockstar has only released a trailer for GTA 6, and its release is expected in autumn 2025, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
